The Building Blocks of Longevity

Glutathione at Ascension Longevity and Wellness

Glutathione has become something of a buzzword in the health and wellness space in recent years, and for good reason. This powerful combination of amino acids is found in every cell in the body. It is one of the key components of mitochondrial function and DNA production. It’s part of what makes “superfoods” like spinach and avocados so super. And, like most of the key ingredients in anti-aging, glutathione production diminishes as we get older. When that happens, you might feel more tired than usual, slower to bounce back, or more sensitive to stress.

Ascension Longevity and Wellness tests for glutathione levels as part of your initial DNA testing and biological age determination, with therapy options if necessary to ensure that your body is getting enough of this vital antioxidant. If you’ve started feeling sluggish, stressed, or like your body just isn’t responding the way it used to, Glutathione treatments could be a key piece to solving your personal aging puzzle.

The Three Aminos

What Is Glutathione?

Glutathione (L-Glutathione) is composed of three vital amino acids: cysteine, glycine, and glutamic acid.

Cysteine: Supports detoxification, skin health, immune function, and inflammation regulation, and is often used to help treat neurological disorders like OCD and Parkinson’s.

Glycine: Supports collagen production, anti-inflammatory signaling, and neurotransmission, and can help improve sleep and metabolic function.

Glutamic Acid (Glutamate): Helps support learning and memory, as well as stress reduction, and is often monitored in patients with epilepsy, Alzheimer’s, and anxiety disorders.

These three powerful particles combine to form glutathione, often called “the master antioxidant.” Glutathione production decreases as we age, accelerating visible signs of aging and leaving the body more susceptible to disease and other chronic conditions. This is why restoring glutathione balance is so important for healthy aging.

The Process

What Is the Glutathione Treatment Like?

Should you be recommended for glutathione therapy as part of your Ascension Program, you will receive your glutathione treatments either through an IV drip or an injection. Taking glutathione orally has been shown to have limited effects. IV drips and injections bypass the digestive system to ensure maximum absorption.

You will want to drink plenty of water before your treatment to ensure that you’re properly hydrated. For IV drips, you will be seated comfortably, and an IV containing glutathione will be inserted into a vein (typically in the arm). The drip typically lasts 30-60 minutes, during which you can read, catch up on work, or just relax. Glutathione injections are muscle injections, similar to when you get a vaccine. The procedure typically takes just a few minutes.

Following your treatment, you are free to go about your day. Dr. Ward will monitor your glutathione levels to ensure that your body is functioning at peak performance.

Ready to Thrive

What Conditions Does Glutathione Therapy Address?

This treatment is often used as part of a strategy to address fatigue, brain fog, toxin buildup, and sluggish recovery. It’s also used in many protocols for managing oxidative stress, supporting liver function, and helping the body recover from illness or inflammation. If you’ve been told “everything looks normal” but you still feel off, this may be one of the therapies we explore together.

An All-Over Glow

What areas of the body can Glutathione address?

Every cell in your body has Glutathione in it in some capacity. If your Glutathione levels are low, that means you’ll feel it all over. Correcting low Glutathione levels will improve cell function from head to toe, as well as an all-around sense of improved well-being.

Feel Better. Live Better.

What Are the Benefits of Glutathione Treatments?

Glutathione treatments can gradually improve the body’s ability to function in multiple areas, including:

  • Energy
  • Skin Clarity
  • Liver Support
  • Fat Reduction
  • Mental Sharpness
  • Immune Resilience
  • Cellular Regeneration

Discover Your Level Best

Am I a Candidate for Glutathione Therapy?

Most healthy adults can benefit from glutathione therapy, especially those navigating hormonal shifts, inflammation, or immune depletion. Every patient at Ascension Longevity and Wellness begins treatment with our Ascension Program, a six-month longevity program created personally by Dr. Jennifer Ward. Dr. Ward is an experienced board-certified Internal Medicine MD, with specialized training in creating customized DNA-guided wellness protocols. She starts by testing your DNA to determine the specific areas where anti-aging treatments like Glutathione could have the most impact. If your tests determine that Glutathione therapy could help lower your biological age, you could be a candidate for IV or injectable Glutathione treatments.

While Glutathione is in every human body, Glutathione treatments should only be done under the supervision of a trained medical professional like Dr. Ward. Clients with asthma, certain sulfur sensitivities, or rare metabolic conditions may need to explore alternative treatments. Safety, efficacy, and a tailored approach always come first.

An Easy Fix

Glutathione Therapy Recovery

There is no recovery process for glutathione therapy, and you should be able to resume your normal day following treatment. It is important to drink plenty of water before and after your treatment to ensure you stay hydrated. In some cases, you may experience a mild irritation at the injection site, but it tends to heal within a day or two. Some patients may experience mild side effects like nausea, dizziness, or headaches following treatment. Keep track of your response to glutathione treatments so that you can discuss your results at your next appointment with Dr. Ward.

Feeling This Good Never Gets Old

Glutathione Results

Results are most commonly noticed within the first three weeks, but in some cases, it may take several months to see significant improvement. Dr. Ward will be monitoring your Glutathione levels to ensure that you get as much benefit as possible out of your treatment sessions. As your levels return to their optimal state, you will begin to notice gradual improvements to your skin, energy levels, immunity, mental clarity, and overall sense of well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions

While every person has glutathione in their bodies, glutathione therapy can still sometimes provoke an allergic reaction in some patients. Patients with chronic kidney or liver conditions, sulfite sensitivity, or asthma should disclose these conditions to Dr. Ward before treatment.

Glutathione injections can last for weeks or even months, depending on how your body processes the glutathione. Dr. Ward will monitor your levels as part of your Ascension Program and only recommend glutathione injections when your body needs it.

There have been rare instances reported where glutathione can lead to weight gain; however, these cases typically involved large doses for skin lightening treatments, rather than for longevity. In many cases, glutathione therapy can actually improve the body’s ability to metabolize fat and aid in weight loss efforts. Dr. Ward will monitor your weight and glutathione levels during your Ascension Program to ensure you have the right balance for your body.

Glutathione injections typically result in a slower, steadier increase, while IV drips process faster for more immediate effects. Both require supervision by a trained medical specialist like Dr. Ward. Dr. Ward will work with you to determine the best method of administration.

Moderate exercise (think cardio or circuit weight training) is the most effective way to maximize glutathione absorption. Also, limiting toxins and alcohol intake can improve your absorption rate. Dr. Ward will review your Ascension Plan and pair your glutathione treatments with a custom diet and exercise plan so that you get the best chance for great results.
